You don’t want your children to miss out on the experience of summer camp, but it seems that the camp you sent them to last year just doesn’t fit them. You struggle with whether you should even send them anywhere this summer – then, you discovered Hatch.
Tell someone you’re a computer programmer, and they’ll visualize a person hunched in front of a computer screen for days at a time with no outside human contact. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth! Socializing is essential to coding, as most programmers must work, learn, and function together while building projects as a team.
At Hatch Canada, our goal is to teach children and parents the value of learning coding at a young age. Not only is programming vital to success in the technology-driven economy of the 21st century, but it can teach kids a broad range of skills that will help them in countless other areas as well.
Here are six quotes from an assortment of science and technology luminaries who know exactly how important coding is to future success.
At Hatch, we witness our students’ quest for knowledge each and every day. However, we also hear from parents who are just as excited to see their child flourish and get excited about coding! 10-year-old Sean caught our attention when he talked about coding in his school’s newsletter, and we were fortunate enough to chat with his mother, Erin, and ask her about how coding has affected their lives.
Sean’s interest in coding first emerged when he wanted to expand his own gameplay on Minecraft, and his passion has been growing ever since! Sean was featured in a newsletter published by The York School, where he discussed five reasons why coding should be taught to every student: problem solving, getting a job in the future, engagement, adaptability, and minimal set-up. After hearing about his level of excitement, we just had to follow up to talk about how his journey with Hatch began!
It is giveaway time!
Ask any of our students why they enjoy attending Hatch and they’ll tell you – it’s FUN. While showing our kids a great time is very important, our goal is to teach them skills that we believe will last a lifetime.
In today’s digital world, an increasing number of jobs require a knowledge of coding – even if only a basic level of knowledge. According to a recent study published by software company Burning Glass, seven million job openings in 2015 listed coding as an asset to the role.
