Want to know what’s been going on with Hatch lately? We’ve had a lot of fun over the March break, so here is a breakdown of our camps and how we kept busy.
Have you heard about Hatch After School? Our after school coding programs provide students with the chance to learn valuable technical skills and have fun while doing so. Using Hatch's proprietary coding software, Hatch’s enthusiastic expert instructors help students learn the fundamentals of coding. Students learn different coding languages and put their new skills into practice. Hatch encourages students to learn at their own pace as they complete fun themed projects. Hatch’s programs teach valuable technical skills that will one day be essential for the younger generation, while encouraging students to engage in creative problem solving.
The Coder’s Code is by coders, for coders. A reminder that a successful coder learns, takes risks and most importantly has fun.
At Hatch Canada, we like to spotlight people who have helped our program grow and succeed. Our coaches play an essential role in helping our students learn the valuable skills of coding and how they can be applied in a meaningful way.
We’re always talking to Hatch parents in order to learn more about their experiences with us. In October 2016 we had a conversation with Brenda whose son Aidan started taking classes with us in September 2014 - a few months after Hatch got going.
Hatch Canada Founder Peter Kuperman gets very excited when you ask him about Hatch Alpha. “We’re going to give students the ability to build projects for the future,” Kuperman says, with a determined look on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
Adam Caplan is the Technology & Teaching Coach at St. Clement’s, an all-girls school in Toronto that is working with Hatch to offer an after-school coding program for their Middle School students. We had a chance to talk with Adam and learn about a technology educator’s perspective on the benefits of teaching children coding and programming.
Parents Jonathan and Claudia share their take on Hatch, engaged learning and the importance of recognizing the less obvious skills that after-school programs, camps and weekend programs can bring to children. With three kids, two of whom have joined us at Hatch, these parents can teach us a lot!
We’ve all heard that a child’s mind is like a sponge: constantly absorbing everything around them. As we watch our children grow, we get the pleasure of viewing their development first-hand. One of the most rewarding moments of parenting can be watching your child learn something new, from their first word, to their first steps, to their first day at school. As parents, we want to do all we can to challenge our children to learn more and embrace new skills along the way. Learning at Hatch is an organic part of this journey, and one that’s so beneficial for a child’s ever-growing mind!
